PnL methodology
Polydata is an independent analytics platform. We never execute trades. This page explains how we compute wallet profit so you can trust — or challenge — the numbers on trader profiles.
Realized PnL
Headline trader PnL is realized: net cash flow from buys/sells plus payouts on resolved winning outcomes. It matches the spirit of Polymarket's site profit headline (closed / realized), not mark-to-market of open books.
- Net cash ≈ sell USD − buy USD (with corrections for NegRisk / conversion quirks when token prices exceed $1)
- On resolution, winning-side net tokens are valued at $1 and added to cash
- Open positions are not fully marked into the headline figure (unrealized is separate / often omitted when marks underprice vs Polymarket UI)
Why we may differ from Polymarket UI
- Different treatment of open vs closed positions
- Rebates, merges/splits, and NegRisk conversions
- Indexing lag vs Polymarket's internal closed-positions API
- Username / proxy-wallet mapping edge cases
When a wallet looks divergent, our reconcile jobs compare against Polymarket closed-positions samples. Large gaps should be treated as a signal to dig into the tape — not as a trade instruction.
Smart Score
Smart Score (0–100) is a composite research rating: consistency, risk, timing, diversity and bot-likelihood signals. It is not financial advice and not a guarantee of future returns.
Market holders / participants
“Holders” tables on market pages rank wallets by 30-day traded volume on that market (largest participants). That is an analytics proxy — not a live on-chain share inventory or brokerage order book.
Data freshness
Common pages are kept fresh by background refresh jobs. Check status for public data freshness.
